Re: 604's in Open Baffle.
Hi Cradeldorf,
Very nice piece of work.It is incredible how fast you move from the concept to a the actual built! How low they go without eq.I dont know wether you are equipped to measure freq.
curves but if you do ,it will be interesting to post the results.
Again,great job.
Charles.
Re: 604's in Open Baffle.
I dont' like it....... sounds like crap, just like the speakers built into my computer monitor! :-)
Re: 604's in Open Baffle.
That first picture......... if you put a receiver on the floor between the 604's it would look like eyes and a nose!
Re: 604's in Open Baffle.
(edit...edit) Cradel, I am confused, I am listing to crappy, You Tube "Peter Gabrial" at unGodly volumes out of my sinfull A8 clones. He sounds great, and no boxy bass. What are you complaining about?

I did make 1 change though, I only put 3 of those patio pavers in the bottom of the cabinets instead of the 6 that were in there before.
?? So what didn't you like about OB other than they need to be EQ'd to get a good tonal balance?
?? If you're adding weight to your open back cabs, short of strapping them to the floor under tension, its best to mass load them from the top, i.e. slate, marble or similar top plate with a thin felt or similar pad isolating it is what I used since I could get them from a local mine outlet and cut to size pretty cheap.
When space permits, a large, heavy potted plant helps with those folks with WAF issues. One dude with exceptionally wide cabs framed the top and added a mini garden in each and a neighbor spanned the speakers with a sturdy shelf and set a large saltwater fish tank on top.
Of course, the speaker must have interlocked vertical, horizontal bracing tying all six sides together, so that it can't 'balloon' out under a heavy weight.

Might revisit the holey back idea?

That's actually a comedy, I beleive, and it's not a WW2 movie. More like a spoof of an action movie.
I don't think I've ever run across a bad WW2 movie....... well except Pearl Harbor that had that weird love triangle thing going on.
